Tomorrow is Independent Bookstore Day which is a day to celebrate new and used independent bookstores!
We love to support new and used bookstores, especially independent bookstores. Smaller, locally owned bookstores give you a personalized touch that the big stores can’t give you.
A whole day to celebrate independent bookstores is something we can definitely support.
We love to visit bookstores when we travel. Over the last few years, we have shared a little bit about our visits to both new and used bookstores.
In honor of Independent Bookstore Day, we put together a round-up of bookstores that we have visited and love.
We continue to visit bookstores when we travel so we look forward to adding more to our list.
Do you have a favorite bookstore? Leave a comment letting us know what bookstore you love.
Great Bookstores We Have Visited
Magic City Books
We are going to start with a bookstore that is local to us. Or at least semi-local. Magic City Books is in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
It is the closest independent bookstore to us and we love to go there to browse for books.
BookPeople
My daughter and I visited BookPeople last summer when we were in Austin, Texas. We loved it! We didn’t have a lot of time to spend there, but we could have spent all day.
It is a huge bookstore with a ton of selection. If you are ever in Austin, it is well worth a trip to BookPeople.
Cannon Beach Book Company
We try to visit Cannon Beach Book Company anytime we go to the beach when we are in Oregon. It is a fun little beach bookstore that has a great selection.
We always find a few books and notebooks when we visit Cannon Beach Book Company.
Powell’s Books
Powell’s Books is another must visit when we are in Oregon. Powell’s is famous for its huge flagship store in Portland, but there are several locations in the Portland area that are fun to visit.
The Island Bookstore
My daughter visited The Island Bookstore in Duck, North Carolina last year and really enjoyed it. She said it was a quaint and fun bookstore to visit.
Gardner’s Used Books
We love both new and used bookstores and Gardner’s Used Books is one of our favorite used bookstores. It is located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and has a huge selection of used books. If you ever visit Tulsa, it is worth a stop at Gardner’s Used Books.
Recycled Books
Another used bookstore that we love is Recycled Books in Denton, Texas. We love to go there anytime we are in the Dallas area.
They have three floors of used books. It is packed full of books. They have one of the best history sections of any used bookstore I have been to. If you love used bookstores, this one is a must visit in Texas.
Tell us about your favorite bookstore to visit.
