Real Story Behind A Shadow In Moscow

Today, I am sharing a real-life story behind the Cold War fiction book A Shadow In Moscow.

This book pairing could also be called fact versus fiction or a nonfiction read-along, instead of the real story behind A Shadow In Moscow.

Fact Versus Fiction A Moscow Shadow books

I recently read A Shadow In Moscow by Katherin Reay. It is a historical fiction book about the Cold War.

It is not based on a real person or persons. Instead, it is based on facts about Russia and the U.S. during The Cold War.

As I read the book, I kept thinking about a real-life Cold War story I read a few years ago.

I decided the two books would make a great post about the real story behind the historical fiction book A Shadow In Moscow.

A Shadow In Moscow book review

A Shadow In Moscow

A Shadow In Moscow by Katherine Reay is part mystery, part history.

It is a dual timeline of 1954 and 1980.

It follows a mother and a daughter living in Russia.

In 1954 Vienna, Ingrid met and married a Soviet embassy worker. They then moved to Russia.

In 1980, Anya, Ingrid’s daughter, returned to Russia after being part of the Foreign Studies Initiative. Her time in America as part of the Foreign Studies Initiative changed her forever.

This book has spies, the KGB, and the CIA, with a lot of Russian history and culture mixed in.

This book is based on a time period and events, not a specific person, but it reads like it could have been real life.

The Spy and the Traitor ebook

The Spy and The Traitor

If you loved A Shadow In Moscow I think you will enjoy The Spy and The Traitor by Ben Macintyre. It is the real-life story of a Russian spy during The Cold War.

It is narrative nonfiction at its best, so it is an excellent book for those who read a lot of fiction but want to read more nonfiction.

The Spy and The Traitor is a real-life Cold War story about Russia, Britain, and The U.S. during the 1970s and 1980s.

It is not about a mother and a daughter, but it is about spies, double agents, the KGB, MI6, and the CIA.

Many things in A Shadow In Moscow are very similar to what happened in real life in The Spy and the Traitor.

The Spy and The Traitor takes you into the world of real life spies and is a wild ride.
