It is time to share what I read in August.
May, June, and July were not great reading months for me, but August was much better.
I read nine books. Seven of the books were fiction books. All of them were books that I enjoyed. A couple of the books were five-star reads for me.

I am sharing a few thoughts on each book. For more information and a full review, you can click on the title of each book.
Fiction

Where the Rivers Merge by Mary Alice Monroe is a multi-generational saga set in the Low Country of South Carolina. This was a five-star read for me until the end of the book. The ending made my rating drop to four stars.

These Tangled Threads by Sarah Loudin Thomas is set in 1924. It centers around three people whose lives revolve around the Biltmore Village and estate.

The Cuban Heiress by Chanel Cleeton is a historical fiction book set in 1934 on the Morroa Castle, a luxury ship making a round-trip voyage from New York to Cuba. I liked this book, but had mixed thoughts on it.

The French Kitchen by Kristy Cambron is a dual timeline book set during and after WWII in France. This book mixed my love of food with my love of WWII historical fiction. And Julia Child makes an appearance in the book.

The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion by Beth Brower, Volumes 2, 3, and 4. Yes, I read three books in the same series during August.
I read book one in July and quickly went on to read the next three books in August. These were the perfect comfort read for me. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
Nonfiction

Grandma Gatewood’s Walk by Ben Montgomery was recommended to me by someone on Instagram. I wish I could remember who because it was an excellent recommendation for me.
I really enjoyed this nonfiction read. If you love books about hiking and nature this is a great backlist book.
Christian Nonfiction

I read Consider the Lilies by Jonny Ardavanis for a Bible Study this summer. It was a great reminder of the Character of God and how it changes our anxiety and worry.
