This week’s Fiction Friday is Next Year In Havana by Chanel Cleeton.

Next Year in Havana by Chanel Cleeton is a historical fiction book published in 2018. It is set in 1950s Cuba and 2017 Florida.
It follows the Perez family during the Cuban Revolution and Fidel Castro’s rise to power.
When I read this book a few years ago, I described it as historical fiction at its best. I still feel that way.
This book is precisely the type of historical fiction that I love.
The writing of the characters, setting, and history is so well done.
Chanel Cleeton makes you feel like you are in 1950s Cuba.

This book is about family, friendship, love, war, and so much more.
Next Year in Havana is the first book in the Perex family series. The books are stand-alone. They do not have to be read in order, but I think you will understand and appreciate the books more if you read them in order.
This book is excellent any time of the year, but since it is set in Cuba and Florida, it makes for a great summer read.
Have you read Next Year in Havana by Chanel Cleeton?
More Fiction Friday Books
The Secret Book of Flora Lea by Patti Callahan Henry – A WWII historical fiction book that I loved.
The Shell Seekers by Rosamunde Pilcher– A backlist book published in 1987. There is a reason this book has stood the test of time.
This sounds so good. I swear Reese and i are kindreds with the books we read!
I don’t usually pay a lot of attention to the celebrity books clubs, but I have read several books with Reese stickers on them that I loved. I need to look back at the books she has picked over the last few years.
Thank you for mentioning “The Blue Castle” by LM Montgomery. I had read it before but decided to reread it. I enjoyed the reread as much as I first time.
I love The Blue Castle. I am glad you enjoyed it too.
